Product Description

Product Description:

The Protists are the most diverse and unique types of organisms from the Tree of Life. These organisms are similar to plants, animals, and fungi however they cannot be placed under those kingdoms. Protists can be categorized as unicellular or multi-cellular. Protists can be seen as the “first” of organisms to be established and is hypothesized that it gave rise to other organisms.
They have a nucleus which functions as a control center and is therefore, more complex than the Prokaryotes. Protists remain in moist areas such as lakes, oceans, and snow. Also, they use photosynthesis in order to survive. It has many different phyla and subgroups that have different types of organism such as amoebas and paramecium.

Quote From Curator: “The Protist Chart from Alison’s Montessori prepares children to learn about the eukaryotic supergroups, which are main branches on the Tree of Life. It shows where the plant, animal, and fungus kingdoms connect to the protist lineages.” – Priscilla Spears, Ph.D.
