Our four shape imbucare box is constructed with the infant and toddler in mind. It has a
beautiful smooth finish and bright red lid which features four cut out shapes. The lid can
be easily flipped up by small hands to access the shaped blocks that are dropped inside
through the lid.
When engaging with the imbucare box the child will develop fundamental cognitive and
motor skills. Some of those are:
- Object Permanence: When an object disappears through the opening and is no
longer visible, the child learns that the object still exists even though they can't
see it.
- Fine Motor Skills: The act of grasping the objects, guiding them to fit through the
openings, and releasing them into the box refines fine motor skills, hand-eye
coordination, and the pincer grasp.
- Hand-Eye Coordination: Children must coordinate their visual perception with
their hand movements to successfully place the objects into the openings.
- Problem Solving and Spatial Reasoning: Children learn to analyze the shape of
the opening and the object, figuring out how to align and manipulate the object to
make it fit. In this way they develop spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.
- Concentration and Focus: The repetitive nature of the activity encourages
concentration and sustained attention.
- Cause and Effect: Children learn about cause and effect as they see that their
actions result in a predictable outcome.
