This manual builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in Mathematics Manual 1, guiding educators in supporting children as they deepen their understanding of mathematical operations. Through a structured sequence of lessons and activities, this manual focuses on the development of the four operations using concrete materials that lead children toward abstraction. Children refine their understanding of quantity, place value, and numerical relationships while developing accuracy, confidence, and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiences.
The manual is organized into key areas that explore each of the four operations in depth. Lessons progress from concrete manipulation to more abstract representations, supporting children in mastering mathematical processes and understanding the relationships between operations. The sequence of instruction allows teachers to present concepts clearly and intentionally, with variations for differentiation and extensions to expand the work. In addition to detailed lesson presentations, this manual includes progress and lesson trackers that help educators document, monitor, and support each child’s journey through the mathematics curriculum. This manual is the second in a set of two manuals for the Mathematics curriculum and serves as a comprehensive guide to the development of operational fluency and mathematical reasoning.
