This manual continues the progression of Language work for the primary age group, guiding teachers as children transition from early phonetic and writing experiences into the study of grammar, word function, and more fluent written expression. Building upon the foundations established in Language Manuals 1 and 2, this manual introduces the Parts of Speech through hands-on, engaging activities, including The Farm environment, grammar symbols, word games, and creative sentence construction. Children develop a deeper understanding of how words work together to create meaning, supporting both reading comprehension and expressive writing.

The lessons and activities in this manual follow a sequence of instruction, providing a smooth course for introducing grammar concepts gradually, across the full school year. They are appropriate for the variety of ages and developmental levels in the primary classroom, with variations for differentiation and extensions to further the work. In addition to detailed lesson presentations, this manual includes progress and lesson trackers that help educators document, monitor, and support each child’s journey through the language curriculum. This manual is the third in a set of 3 manuals for the Language curriculum. It presents a comprehensive approach to the development of written language fluency, leading naturally into further experiences in composition, handwriting, and advanced language work.
