My young elementary students enjoy having these beautiful wood alternatives. The blue are excellent for 3-6 but the older students feel quite mature to have the pretty wood ones now.

These are so very beautiful. Very smooth and wonderful grain color. Happy we went with the natural wood. The wooden box it comes in is made beautifully too.

I debated on whether or not to get the blue or natural and settled on getting the natural. I do not regret my choice. The solids are not only visually appealing they are beautiful to the touch and very enticing for young hands to manipulate. I would recommend this to any Montessori classroom.
