How do we use Mountain Animals to Cards Matching?

There are two ways to present matching materials, horizontally or vertically.

Presenting matching work vertically allows children to isolate each card or object and compare them one by one by always starting at the top and going down. It also provides the child movement opportunities and a variety of visual perspectives.

Presenting matching work horizontally offers children an opportunity to work on the reading track by working from left to right. They also get a lot of work with midline crossing while matching on a large linear horizontal space.

Our set Mountain Animals to Cards Matching contains 8 Animals and 16 laminated cards. You may present matching an object to a picture at first, and present matching a picture to a picture later which leads children towards working in abstraction.
