This manual continues the exploration of Language for the primary age group, guiding teachers as children move beyond early phonetic awareness and pre-writing experiences into emerging reading through the Language Series work, fluent writing using materials like the Sandpaper Letters and the Movable Alphabet, and more formal language structure. It builds upon the foundations laid in Language Manual 1, deepening children’s understanding of written symbols, word patterns, and the mechanics of written communication.
The lessons and activities in this manual follow a sequence of instruction, providing a smooth course into studying Language from the beginning of the school year. They are appropriate for the variety of ages and developmental levels in the primary classroom, with variations for differentiation and extensions to further the work. In addition to detailed lesson presentations, this manual includes reproducible supplemental materials for classroom use, along with progress and lesson trackers that help educators document, monitor, and support each child’s journey through the language curriculum. This manual is the second in a set of 3 manuals for the Language curriculum. It presents a comprehensive approach to the development of reading and writing fluency, with clear connections to oral language, grammar, and composition work that follow.
This manual contains 360 pages and is produced and published by Alison's Montessori and Educational Materials.
